- payment for pollutant loading to the environment
- basic values versus specific limits based on risk analysis
- numeric limits versus descriptive limits
- limits to concentration versus limits to loading
Regulations applied to different sectors or activities:
- discharge of industrial effluents to the municipal sewers
- discharge of treated or reclaimed wastewater to:
- rivers

- coastal areas
- drinking water sources
- recreational areas and bathing beachs
- guidelines for wastewater reuse in irrigation:
- unrestricted agricultural irrigation
- restricted agricultural irrigation
- irrigation of golf courses y public parks
- reuse in aquaculture
- distinction between public health, environmental and agrotechnic parameters
- aquifer protection
- international regulations applicable to produce for export
Regulation enforcement:
- fines
- payment by pollution loading units
- criminal responsibility
- other punishments (e.g., reduced water supply to polluting factories)
- fiscal incentives
- press publication of lists of the polluting institutions (public opinion)
- participation of the industry and environmental NGOs in the development of the regulations
International regulations
- comparative studies on environmental regulations and policy in different countries
- international treaties and conventions
- applicability of foreign regulations to export products
- environmental certification
- "organic" certification
- "green building" certification
- "eco-friendly" tag

water sources management, etc.
The project received the
international prize "Thiess" on river recovery.
Project commissioned by the Israel Rivers Restoration Administration.
Master Plan for the integrative rehabilitation and development of the catchment basin of the Sorek river.
Our company was responsible for the water section of the project and the overall view of the river's
catchment basin (watershed).
This section included water flows and qualities, sewage treatment and disposal criteria, pollution control, water allocations, alternative water sources
management, etc.
Project commissioned by the Israel Rivers Restoration Administration.
Master Plan for the integrative rehabilitation and development of the catchment basin of the Lachish river.
Our company was responsible for the water section of the project and the overall view of the river's
catchment basin (watershed).
This section included water flows and qualities, sewage treatment and disposal criteria, pollution control, water allocations, alternative
water sources management, etc.
Project commissioned by the Administration for the Recovery of the Lachish River.
Master Plan for the integrative rehabilitation and development of the catchment basin of the Taninim river.
Our company was responsible for the water section of the project and the overall view of the river's catchment basin (watershed).
This section included water flows and
qualities,
sewage treatment and disposal criteria, pollution control, salination problems, water allocations, alternative water sources management, etc.
Project commissioned by the Towns Association for Environmental Quality - Hadera.
Pollution of the Mediterranean sea from land based sources: municipal sewage, industrial effluents, diffuse pollution
Consultation to the WHO (World Health Organisation) within the framework of MAP (Mediterranean Action Plan) project.
Boron in Israel - Sources, disposal and its effect on agriculture via wastewater reuse.
Basis for changing the Israel standards on the production and use of detergents.
Survey requested by Procter & Gamble, Switzerland.
Alternatives for the separation, treatment and disposal of fat (organic oil & grease) in industrial effluents
Basis for a change in the Israeli standard regarding the release industrial effluents with
FAT into municipal sewer network.
Study requested by the Ministry of the Environment, Israel
Organic pollutants in industrial effluents - Numerical limits.
Basis for a change in the Israel standards regarding the release of industrial effluents into municipal sewers networks.
Three differents standards were developed:
- flash point, fire point and explosion level
- VOCs
- toxicity and degradability (different values by removal in treatment plant and final fate of treated effluents: discharge to river, sea or agricultural reuse)
Study requested by the Ministry of the Environment and The Manufacturers Association of Israel.
Organic pollutants in industrial effluents - Toxicity and inhibition tests.
Basis for a change in the Israel standards regarding the release of industrial effluents into municipal sewer network,
according to their toxicity and inhibition on the sewage treatment plant.
Study requested by the Israel Ministry of the Environment.
Comparative analysis of the Israeli Environmental Laws and the Environmental Guidelines set by the World Bank.
Analysis requested by Apax - Leumi, Israel Growth Fund.

Soil and water pollution with used mineral oil and related pollutants, industrial effluents.
Discharge, cleaning, separation, treatment, recycling methods and costs.
Basis for new Israeli standards for oil recycling and the prevention of soil and water pollution from:
- auto repair shops
- open working areas (oil deposits, open backyards in factories, working esplanades in ports and airports,
parking areas for heavy equipment, etc.)
- spread sources of pollution (maintenance of heavy equipment at the work place, domestic repair shops, etc.)
Study requested by the Industrial Effluent Division - Ministry of the Environment Israel.

General design for sewage treatment and disposal in 9 large-scale tourist resort centers and related towns in República Dominicana.
Each one of the nine centers
contains numerous large-scale hotels for massive European tourism.
Sewage treatment and disposal should maintain optimal environmental conditions
in tropical beaches that are the main tourist attraction of the resorts.
The project included the development of quality criteria (standards) and design of sewage treatment and disposal plants for the discharge of
treated effluents to coral beach sea waters (marine outfalls), coastal marshes and mangroves,
